Tucson’s top five best-ranked football teams in the Pac-12 are playing on the team that is currently leading the conference in total offense and the No. 1 ranked defense.
Tucson has scored 3,906 points this season, but the team with the highest total offense, Arizona State, is No. 3 in the league in points per game (16.9) and No. 7 in total defense (103.4).
The Sun Devils have scored just 14.3 points per contest in their last three games against Arizona State and the Cougars are averaging 14.2 points in the last four games.
The No. 6 ranked defense, Utah, is averaging 10.2 yards per play in its last five games and is No of 5 in points allowed per game.
The Utes are averaging just 10.3 yards per game in the four games since the beginning of January.
The top five are led by Arizona State’s defense, which ranks third in total yards allowed (3,898.3), No. 5 in yards per pass attempt (5.7), No of passing yards allowed per pass (7.3) and seventh in scoring offense (22.8 ppg).
The Cardinal ranks fourth in passing yards per attempt (11.3).
Utah is averaging 4,058 yards of total offense this season and is leading the Pac 12 in passing offense.
The Aggies are averaging 10,821 yards of offense in their three games this season.
Utah is third in the conference for passing offense and sixth for scoring offense.
Utah has scored a touchdown in eight straight games.
The last time it scored a scoring touchdown in consecutive games was in the 2015 opener against No. 17 USC and was a 31-20 win.
The Sun Devils rank fourth in the country in scoring defense and sixth in passing defense.
The Cougars rank sixth in scoring.
